IMPORTANT NEWS REGARDING Digitally Devoted Photo Trek 2010

Hello Friends,

Riding on the coat tails of an extremely successful D2 trip to the White Mountains of New Hampshire, I’m happy to announce that a trip is being planned for.....

YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK
September 9-17, 2010

The trip will be priced to include….

Accommodations 7 nights
Park entry fees
Private guide for two days
Van rentals / gas / mileage

The excursion will leave from Salt Lake City the morning of Sept 10th. Therefore, it is recommended that members be in Salt Lake by the evening of Sept 9th. Members will be responsible for their own travel costs into Salt Lake City.

It is a 5 hour drive to Yellowstone – “all part of the adventure” as Lord Hobcote so eloquently put it.

On September 17th, we will make the drive back to Salt Lake, leaving the cabin relatively early in the morning in the hopes that all members can make travel arrangements that day. My thought is if we leave the cabin by 6am, then members will be able to make flights after 3pm and get home that evening.

I’d like to make you aware that the trip cost will be priced as it is. D2 is not looking to make profit. This will not be a cheap trip, and my goal is to keep it between $800-$1000 per person, plus your cost of travel to Salt Lake.

Once everything is set into motion, deposits on the trip WILL NOT BE REFUNDABLE.

So with that said…. all I need to know is who's interested ?

Well..... I don't want to put a limit on it..... BUT.... I believe 20 will be the perfect size group. So basically I'm saying I don't want to turn people away....and if we get that kind of response I'll take a deep breath and figure it out !!! LOL

So... I've found the coolest place !!!

I think it sounds wonderful, and I really hope you will think so too !! I have spoken to the manager on the phone, and she is going to call me back in a day or so with a discounted rate. Reg. rate is $190/day per person. And she believes she can bring that down to $155

This place is ALL INCLUSIVE. Your lodging and all meals and activities on the ranch are in this price. When we travel during the day, they will pack us picnic baskets for lunch.

Please look over the site. There is horseback riding, fly fishing, wagon rides, bonfires at night... all kinds of neat things going on.

Be sure to look at all the links down the left side of the site. Activities, history, FAQ'S... there is a lot of info on the site. I love that all the food is included. Which means more time for comradery and debauchery.

Let me know what you think about the ranch.

All look good to me - we just need is a place to sleep, wash-up etc since we will be off doing what photographers do during the day. The one thing that would be nice is to have a central meeting place that would accomodate all of us for meals, debriefing, a little sip of something etc. or if the weather keeps us in for a day... for example, if they have a restarauant attached or a banquet room they may reserve an area for us.. It would also be nice if we could prepare some of our own meals..

The Parade Rest Ranch has a rec center... it's talked about under the DINING tab on their site. Cards, games, tv.. whatever. They also do bonfires at night, and there's a hot tub... which might really be nice after a day of trekkin' around the park. If we choose to go with Parade Rest, there are cabins that have living rooms, big dining tables, so we can all hang out in one cabin, but we'll be separated for sleeping arrangements. I told her that we were flexible as long as each couple, or member has private quarters. NO lofts where there are 2 plus beds in one room. She said, "no problem at all".

There are no fridges in the rooms, but they will provide each cabin with a cooler on the porch to keep drinks cold. And we can take our drinks wherever we'd like. They will even serve our own wine with dinner.

The more I look at this, the more I like it. the rates are reasonable considering it's all inclusive, and I have to admit.... now don't get me wrong here, I loved every minute of it when we were up north, but not having to think about groceries or food will be really nice. I enjoy entertaining and making dinner.... I really do. But this is a vacation of a lifetime for us, we've wanted to go here since we met... so I don't want to be thinking about making sure there's dinner made.

I'm going to keep looking around, I just might find something even better ! but I'm definitely book marking this one. I will know more when she calls me tomorrow. Then I'll share what I know.

This sounds very good Tracy... I like the private quarters (incl washrooms) and a location large enough to accomodate all of us until the wee hours of around 10:00 PM.... that's about as long as we lasted at WME 09... One more suggestion - no TVs... we don't want Steve to get all worked up about a football game - especially if his team is playing...!!!
