After seeing all the delays and how long the last (first) one took, I am not surprised and think that it will turn out to be randomly and haphazardly done, if at all...

The contest was never intended to be a "monthly contest." We will have other contests with prizes, however with our current funding we are unable to run contests with cash payouts on a monthly basis.

Great idea, I will discuss with the other admins. On a side note, I have been struggling with sever back and leg pain, so if it takes me a few days to respond to emails or discussions please don't be offended.
We could probably do a monthly "Pool Contest" with a $5 or $10 entry fee, and 100% of the entry fees will go toward prize money. The admins will talk it over. In the mean time, let us know what you think. Thanks.

I think the site needs a well run, on time monthly contest. MyFourThirds does one monthly, and perfectly, and the prize is a t-shirt. The $5 to enter is fine as well, I would opt for a small prize for the winner, even 50%, and the rest to charity. Or the prize can be membership fees for the "next" year... Whatever, but it needs to be run ON TIME or it looses momentum and credibility.

I think a Monthly Contest would be a good thing even without a prize. This could break the shoot-post-comment routine in a good way and will equally represent a further challenge for us all.
I think though an entrance fee will probably lower the pariticipation - don't forget we want a MONTHLY contest for LONG term.
The Admins have all freedoom to organize further indidvidual contests with entry fees and/or prizes, fund raising or whatever, but these should be separate from a montlhy contest which - in my opinion - should be organized mainly to improve and keep D2 going.

Think we should have a monthly theme... Rules something like on the 1st of the month we are given a subject. Then given 14 days to shoot said subject, post image mid month and and vote till end of month. Not sure about tech stuff but exif data must have the date shot and be valid for the month of subject. Object is to stop people from plucking images off their hard drives. Well thats about the limits of my brain storming, my head hurts so I am off to bed... Ni Ni

I think too that an entry fee and a prize is unnecessary. But people should be able to post shots in the past. 2 weeks is not necessarily long for people who work or do not have a car... depending on the subject. And why should we have to send it by mail ? Can't we post it ourselves ?
I think for the least amount of troubles and managing, we should all just participate on the monthly subject group. The winner could decide the next month theme.
