Using Shutter speed to Create a dark background in daylight to highlight the subject

I did this with a similar image earlier this year with minimal editing, but it was taken at ISO 400 f/2 don't remember shutter speed without looking it up. Michael I think center weight metering on…

Mao, you don't necessarily have to defrag to upgrade top Windows 7, but it would make it much faster. However do make sure that your system is clean of any spyware or viruses before upgrading. Window…

Superbly exposed !! Adore the richness of your colours and how you didn't go overboard with your add. I assume that you did some cloning because there's a headless trunk and a structure left behind at bottom left. If it wasn't for that, I would have…

this flower has a beak, and is poised almost like a bird with great feathers around its head. ditto Mao except for the left bud, it adds to the photo.

Mother Marie... ♥Thx Stephen !♥ Nothing really elaborate in the pp. The major thing was a simple mask to tone down the sky and a play with temperature.

Hey Stephen, I took a look at the Canyon photos and saw much that I liked. In regards to the Eagles Point shot I think it is stunning in full view and the texture is outstanding so it should make a great print. I am a tad concerned with how the sky will display in print because there is noise there that was likely enhanced during post processing. I would apply a noise reduction plugin through layer masking to "ONLY" the sky. You want to make sure that you don't smooth out the great texture that you have throughout the rest of the photo. Other than that it is a great photo and should make a great print. Hope this helps.

Flower Girl... Well, yes, it's easier and that's why we post !! Someone else's eye is better as mine isn't objective ! ;]
I did 3 pics very quickly while talking with her about the difference with a snapshot and a photograph and a point and shoot and a DSLR. I was puzzle in these few seconds where to put her face as she would be against a bright area or either too close to the tree, so my guess was to put her a bit further away. And actually, her face wasn't blown out originally but it kind of happen in pp... oops ! ;o£
but♥Thx♥ I agree and appreciate your insight !

Stephen,
No filters. I have a graduated ND kit but I hardly ever use it anymore. It's all about getting a perfect exposure to bring into PS.

Being a Bee - Thanks! I've found that I get better results using manual focus on these type of shots. I've also found that you can get a tad closer with bees than with butterflies.
